Two Years Later, Florida Court Has Yet to Rule to Evict People from Sofia's Home | @FuatKircaali @DianeRMacedo

Sofia is now waiting for the past two years for the court decision to evict the occupants of her Florida home

Six years have passed since the global news coverage of Sofia's abduction to Syria and she has now been waiting for more than two years for the Broward County Court's decision in Florida to evict the occupants of her home, so she can return to the U.S. and "finally" resume her normal life at the age of eight.

In 2011, her mother's Florida Attorney Susan R. Brown convinced Honorable Judge Arthur Birken to give temporary custody of Sofia to her mother; months later Sofia ended up in Syria with her mom and stayed there for several years until the civil war broke.

A year after the Broward County Court's "worst custody ruling" in Florida, and after world-wide media outrage, Honorable Judge Arthur Birken contacted me and extended the sole custody of my daughter to me. This didn't help get Sofia out of Syria for three more years.

In the mean time, since June 2015, Sofia's Florida home has been occupied by people who converted the house into a bed and breakfast rental and destroyed the home beyond recognition. During the last hearing on April 10, 2017, General Magistrate Rita Ugarte said "she is not even sure if she can legally let these people continue to live in the house" but once again the trial has been postponed to June 15, 2017.

Sofia has been waiting in Turkey to return home for more than two years. In this home video, while celebrating the New Year of 2017, in the background CNN Turk interrupts its broadcasting to bring more news of another terror massacre from Istanbul, which killed 39 people in the city where Sofia lives.

On June 27, 2016, Sofia arrives at Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport. 24 hours later another terror massacre here kills 42 and injures 262. Less than a month later, on July 15, 2016, a coup attempt in the country leaves 270-350 killed and 2,185 wounded overall (Wikipedia).

After the July 15 coup attempt, many schools in the country closed and/or ownership changed. In this video, Sofia is performing at her 2016 school year-end activity.

Britain's Daily Mail was among world media that highlighted Honorable Judge Arthur Birken's custody ruling outcome that ruined eight years of a child and the rest of her life.

A Google search shows coverage by dozens of news outlets and children's organizations.

Attempts for three years to bring Sofia home from Syria also became a focal point in WikiLeaks' Syria Files.
